Tobacco Box

This exceptionally early tobacco box was made around 1660 from tortoise shell with silver mounts. It is one of the earliest known Dutch tobacco boxes.
At the top of the box is a ring with which it could be attached to the clothing. On the tobacco box there are small plaques that show amongst others who the owner of the box was: Jan Peeters Room.
