This silver miniature ewer and basin set was made in Delft in 1679 by Charle Serval.
The oval dish has a wide rim with a chased decoration of flowers, grapes and acorns. The ewer stands on a smoothly rising profiled foot and has a completely smooth straight rising body. Opposite the large spout is a triangular handle.
The epicentre of miniature silver in the Netherlands was Amsterdam. Only in a few other cities miniature silver pieces were made in the 17th and 18th centuries. Therefore, miniature silver from the city of Delft is very rare.
