This beautifully made demi-parure, comprising a pair of earclips and a matching brooch, reflects the refined craftsmanship and elegant design for which the Spanish Aldao is known. Both pieces are in a delicate leaf motif, set with brilliant-cut diamonds against a subtly textured gold surface decorated with fine granulated “berry” details. The contrast between warm gold and sparkling diamonds creates a harmonious and timeless effect.
The earclips, signed Aldao and bearing the French import mark for 18-carat gold, are set with approximately 8 carats of diamonds. Each measures about 4 × 3 cm and weighs 24 grams. The matching brooch, set with approximately 9 carats of brilliant-cut diamonds, measures 7.3 × 5 cm and weighs 38 grams.
Aldao was founded in Madrid in 1911 by Don Manuel Fernández Aldao Balbis. In 1931 his daughter, Antoñita Fernández-Aldao, joined the firm and dedicated her life to its work and clients. In 2003 she was awarded Spain’s Gold Medal for Merit in Labour in recognition of her lifelong commitment to excellence.
